Here's a little piece of weirdness I did a couple of years ago, I meant to get someone to put it out but never got around to it. So instead I made this little CD-r version. These are two totally different songs I made on the old 8-track. Pretty rough and weird stuff, I doubt anyone will be that surprised, but then again you never know. I have been working on finishing the whole album lately, so I'm throwing this up to see what people think. These are just ruff mixes and they sound like it, but I was happy enough with them to share. Kind of weird emotional stuff. Please be kind ...It's my first time....Ha Ha just kidding I cant wait for the hate mail. I downloaded it, I'll have to give it a few spins, not sure what I think yet. I definitely like the second track better than the first. Man, the digital 8-track don't sound bad, but I guess I expected more since I've heard cassette 4-track recordings that sound pretty fucking great. Fuck, I might just buy a tascam 488 cassette 8-track, I don't know, the sound of all the digital machines isn't exactly causing my diggle to wiggle and I'm sure you know more about what you're doing with it than I would. There's just something about the tape sound that I like...I dunno. What kind of drum machine are you using? I'll probably like it a hell of a lot more after I listen to it several times and digest it.
ReplyDeleteactually those are real drums aren't they? I thought the ride sounded sorta "fakey" first time I listened but I'm pretty sure it's actual drums......oh well.

ReplyDeleteJammed this in the car and it sounded infinitely better, I think the problem with the first couple of listens were my shitty laptop speakers, plus my laptop seems to always pick up some kind of interference, not sure what the deal is. But yeah, "Sacrifice" is awesome, you should just put that one out as is. Listening in the car also renewed my faith in getting a digital 8 track, it actually sounded great. Made a night and day difference. "Nightdreamer" is pretty good too. Shit, go ahead and post the rest of the tracks. I'd like to check 'em out.
