SOUNDS RECORDS MEGA POST!!!

OK here three killer little ditties from the mysterious Sounds Records? All three of these are from 1962 and all three are killer and I just love these fucking covers, especially Music for Monsters. Dig in HALLOWEEN IS ALMOST HERE!

RICHARD TAYLOR - TERROR 1962

Here's another Richard Taylor record, two more to go. Hope you dig it as much as the last one, I certainly do.
1.The Masque of the Red Death

RUTH WHITE - FLOWERS OF EVIL 1969

Today we've got another shot of total weirdness courtesy of Ruth White. This is a strange, strange record. Tons electronic sounds with bizarre spoken word parts all by Ruth White, with lyrics by Charles Baudlaire. Truly different, I cant listen to all of this in one sitting, but in parts its very effective. Their are plenty of you that will appreciate this I'm sure.
1.The Clock
2.Evening Harmony
3.Lover's Wine
4.Owls
5.Mists And Rains

SPAZZTIC BLURR - BEFO DA AWBUM 1988 (US)

Here's another crossover/funny type record, featuring three members of Wehrmacht. I mentioned these guys before when I posted the EXTRA HOT SAUCE - TACO OF DEATH 1988 (US) album. This is totally ridiculous and I sometimes think to myself "why am I listening to this again" when I'm listening to it, but I keep coming back, something about this is genuinely funny to me. This is a little different than a lot of these type records. Closer to M.O.D. is places than D.R.I., but still unhinged and at times sort of brilliant. I cant really describe the music because its all over the place, much more diverse than most crossover/grind albums. Also I gotta say this is a cool as hell cover, the back and the front .Take a listen for yourself. 1.Blurr HogS
2.Images
3.ABC's
4.Spazztic Puke
5.Fuck Yeah
6.Bouge Jonzin

12.Ace
13.Def Metal

WALTER RIZZATTI - HOUSE BY THE CEMETARY OST

Got another great Fulci soundtrack for you today. I hadn't made any soundtrack posts in a little bit so hear we go. I love this awesome movie and have seen it at least a dozen times or more. The soundtrack is just plain killer too. Awhile back I posted another great Rizzatti album here WALTER RIZZATTI - 1999:BRONX WARRIORS OST . Fantastic stuff! I especially like the the track "I remember". This also has some neat interviews and other sound clips, check it out for sure!

A.M.Q.A. - MUTANT CATS FROM HELL 1988 (US)

Wacky record here by the bizarrely named Apple Maggot Quarantine Area. WTF? Anyway I dig this record and if you dig crossover type shit this will certainly appeal to you. Sometimes there is a hint of metal but mostly this more in the funny hardcore mold. Formed in 85, these guys had to face some adversity over this silly name and the name of the fucking album. It would be hard to pull out a more ridiculous album on the spot. They have an E.P. before this called "Cats are neat", again is there some grand in joke that I am not getting about how awesome cats are? That said the best track on this is the title track. I also dug the crossover version of the Jetsons theme. Cat lovers unite!

RICHARD TAYLOR - NIGHTMARE 1962

Here's one out of four Edger Allan Poe story albums by Richard Taylor, I will try to get the other three up this week. These albums were available for order in Famous Monsters magazine and in Creepy magazine from the 60's up until the very early 80's. These recordings are very cheap, but quite effective. Sometimes this dude does sound truly crazy, like he's really on the brink of madness. I love these records..Enjoy!
1.The Tell-Tale Heart
2.The Pit and the Pendulum

JACK STARR - BORN PETRIFIED

Here's some great primitive rock 'n' roll weirdness for you. I first got turned on to Jack Starr from listening to ANTiSEEN's "Eat more Possum" album (at least I think its the same Jack Starr) and then I found this compilation and have beena fan eve r since. Really cool stuff, maybe a little much for everybody, but classic none the less. Another great monster record!

RED MACHETE - PULL THE ROPE 7" 1985 (US)

I fucking love this one, total garage metal madness. This single just flat out jams. I like the terrible vocals a lot and the lyrics are golden. "Pull the Rope" is probably the best of the two, but "Ain't no mercy" is a close second, with the awesome chorus parts. Awesome little cover also and I love the picture of these guys, one of them looks very cold, Ha Ha. This Rocks!
1.Pull the Rope

DEAN GITTER - GHOST BALLADS 1959

I was talking to my good friend Stoney about stuff like this just the other day, so now I'm posting a little of it. This is kind of folksy, but the subject matter really makes this essential. Gitter's voice is good for this type thing and he really pulls out some classic material here. Lots of great public domain folk tracks full creepy little tales. When I first heard this I was really happy because I had heard the song "Skin and Bones" before, not this version but the version that is sung by the old lady in the woods in the 1975 movie "Lemora: A child's tale of the supernatural", a movie that I am a little obsessed with at this point. That version was beyond creepy, so when I heard this I was totally psyched. This one just got a little press in the latest issue of Rue Morgue magazine (which I love), so if any of you read that I'm sure you'll want to get this. There are several other great Halloween records mentioned so I think its a must read situation regardless. They even mention the old Scar Stuff blog, very cool. Also this has a killer Charles Addams cover, you cant beat that...Enjoy!

DRESDEN 45 - SWISS BANK ACCOUNT E.P.1988 (US)

Great stuff here these Texas punks, don't know much about them. They do have a full length after this but I haven't tracked it down yet. Killer hardcore punk stuff here though that I'm sure would please any old school punk fans. This is almost crossover at times and there are some heavier moments and some double kick. I like the way this one sounds, the chaotic drums especially for some reason. Damn good E.P. I cant imagine these guys not being popular at least locally.

LEONA ANDERSON - MUSIC TO SUFFER BY 1957

I hadn't made a Weird post in a while so here's Leona Anderson's disaster piece "Music to Suffer by". Leona leads you through thirteen ear torturing numbers. Her version of "Indian Love Call" was particularly painful. Her voice is great though in my opinion, I mean that in the absolute worst kind of way but still. Sure she's not a singer, but this is very entertaining and almost subversive in a way. She actually made some appearances on the Ernie Kovacs show, if your a fan of classic T.V. At one time she proclaimed herself "The World's Worst Singer". My Favorite here has got to be "Rats in my Room", nothing short of transgressive. A totally original and brutal record dude!

THE INNOCENTS - ONE WAY LOVE 1980 (UK)

Here's one that's kind of power pop. If you like catchy girl punk like I do than this will certainly interest you. Don't know much about it but it's just so damn catchy and awesome. Both songs are good but the A-Side is the best. I totally love this chicks vocals, sometimes there a little out of tune and that just makes me love them more. Check it out!

GOODNIGHT WHATEVER YOU ARE: HALLOWEEN EDITION VOLUME 4

I cant believe we've already made it to volume four. Only one volume left in the series, I guess I better start working on part six huh! Hope everyone digs this one as much as the others. I think its a little better than the previous volume, considering those cave man tunes there at the end, ha ha. I love all of them like children though. So its hard to be objective. This one has some real classics like the Wade Denning track "The Pumpkin Tells", Bill Buchanan's "Beware" and the Zane Bros. "Dracula", plus a ton of others ghoulish delights. See what you think. THE ADDAMS FAMILY T.V. SOUNDTRACK - VIC MIZZY

This one is for the late Vic Mizzy. Sadly he died on Saturday at the age of 93. He wrote a truly enduring classic here with the Addams Family theme. I'll be hearing it to the day I die I'm sure. He also penned the theme to Green Acres and a ton of other stuff for some pretty huge artists like Dean Martin, Doris Day, Perry Como and Billie Holiday. Hey Alan thanks for making me aware of this. Vic were gonna miss the hell out of you.

WADE DENNING - FAMOUS GHOST STORES WITH SCARY SOUNDS

OK here's a Halloween bonus post, another great Wade Denning record, I posted a couple other albums by him here WADE DENNING - SOUNDS OF TERROR 1974 + HALLOWEEN: GAMES, SONGS AND STORIES 1969 (US) . Some of these tracks later got used as flexi discs for cereal, awesome right! I was going through some of the comments you folks have made and was reminded that someone actually requested this album awhile back and I had forgotten about it. So here it is , enjoy another Wade Denning horror meltdown.

CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT - DINNER WITH DRAC 1976

This one is pretty cool, I have certainly worn it out lately. I think I could listen to just about anyone cover ZACHERLE's "Dinner with Drac" and this heavy rocking version is a true tribute to the cool ghoul and a reminder of just how awesome the original was and is. But this record has a lot of good stuff to offer after the Zach connection. There's plenty of original skits and songs, all of which are entertaining to say the least. The second version of "Dinner with Drac" is a little heavier and maybe just a little better. Great fucking album, see what you think.

THE NUNS-THE NUNS 1980 (US)

I wanted this album for a long time based on the song "Child Molester" from comp someone made for me and after getting it I was blown away at how strong it was. You never here people talk about this band or album, which is a crime. The music contained here is top quality punk/new wave. There are two singers a guy (Jeff Olener) and a girl (Jennifer Miro) , both have good tracks. Plenty of good songs here, I think the best are "Savage", "Child Molester" and "Suicide Child", all three of these are certainly classics. This band also featured Alejandro Escovedo, if you know who that is. Very good stuff!

Here's a request I got from my new friend fangbang , glad I could help you out, hope you enjoy it. Its a great record and one of the best covers ever, the back is even better. A ton of very classy sound effects. This is a great Halloween addition for any monster fiend. Got any more requests let me know. Top notch stuff, get it!

ACID - ACID 1982(BEL)

Fucking fantastic metal album here from this female fronted Belgium metal act. Formed back in 1980, they have few demos and a single before this album that are all worth checking out, plus several releases after this that are also top notch. The great female vocals are what sucked me in originally but there are some very catchy songs here. Also the lyrics are rather amusing at times. Fans of classic metal will love this band. I do have all their other records and I'm sure if a lot of you get this, I will post the rest soon.

CREED TAYLOR ORCHESTRA - SHOCK 1958 + PANIC(SON OF SHOCK) 1959

For today's Halloween post here's a couple of weird ones by the fabulous Creed Taylor Orchestra. Don't worry punks and metal heads, I got a lot of new stuff to post for you Sunday, I have just been so busy working that I have barely been making my daily post of horror shit. Anyway very strange stuff here. These two classics are actually the work of Kenyon Hopkins, who has worked with tons of people, just look at his Wiki page. I also have the killer Lilith soundtrack he did, nothing short of awesome. I love the sound effects they use on some of the tracks, there are even a few jump scares. The voices are also pretty funny. Over all there is a weird sense of humour to both these records that I just cant explain. Of course I think both of these covers are totally rad, especially the Panic cover. This may be a little mellow for some of you but it makes great background sound for any creepy occasion. There is a third one of these that I don't have called "Nightmare" I think, if anyone has it let me know. Don't dare listen to this alone..Enjoy!

THE GHOULS - DRACULA'S DEUCE 1965 (US)

This one is pretty funny, mostly classic tunes with the lyrics adapted to fit the Horror motif. Very fun little record, lots of surf and hot rod type stuff played by true studio professionals. There are few real gems here for sure. Every other song is an instrumental, but on some of the tracks with vocals, they go for the classic Bobby "Boris" Pickett style of Karloff worship. I personally loved "Little old lady from Transylvania", "Be true to your Ghoul" and "Bela be good". Its hard to believe that Capitol Records ever put this out, but I guess those were just better times. Great stuff! BTW I have been racing to beat my new friend Pro.Grewbeard at Magic Carpet Burn to post every known monster record in the universe and thankfully before he could win, we have decided to work together. So if I see he has posted something I wanted to post, I will direct you guys to his page and he will do the same for me. More Monster music for everyone..Enjoy.

GROUND ATTACK - RED LION / EVERY MOTHER'S SON 1981 (UK

Great piece of NWOBHM wax. Formed in 79, Ground Attacks sound is very upbeat, energetic and almost punk at times. I love the vocals and the guitars. These are two very catchy songs. They get you singing along in no time. Damn near perfect NWOBHM. The First track "Red Lion" is the best here, which from the picture included with this single, must have been the local pub. The B-side "Every mothers son" isn't far behind in total quality. There is a certain biker vibe here also, I cant put my finger on it but, I could see these guys tossing back several pints while listening to Ac/Dc, before a long bike ride, ha ha. This is their one and only vinyl offering, however they did reform at some point after changing their name to Heavy Duty, Anyway this is a fantastic single so get it already. Also I included their classic demo, so get it too!

THE VAMPIRES OF DARTMOORE - DRACULA'S MUSIC CABINET 1969 (GER)

Totally weird and wacky album by this all but totally unknown band. First of all the cover is absolutely amazing and the music inside could never possibly live up to it honestly. I don't know what I expected when I first got this, maybe something like a more 60's ALICE COOPER, but that was way off. This is more like a Psychedelic take on the Milton DeLugg sound. German jazz musicians Horst Ackermann & Heribert Thusek’s Vampires of Dartmoore have plenty of stuff here that could have been back ground music on The Munsters. There are vocals, but there pretty sparse. Lots of sound effects and mellow psych sounds though. A very strange album indeed, I Love it.

THE HAUNTING (GAYLE HOUSE RECORDS) 1971

For our Halloween selection today, we got another good sound effect record, this time it's from the mysterious Gayle house records. This fabulous mail in classic is pretty short, but awesome and it has some very cool spoken parts like "The Stake, The Stake Give me the Stake!". Classic stuff. I love the image on the record, simple and basic but it screams 70' Halloween and those ad's are beyond rad! Check it out.

MCCHURCH SOUNDROOM - DELUSION 1971 (GER)

More Killer Heavy Rock today. This time we got Germany's MCCHURCH SOUNDROOM, totally obscure stuff for sure, I don't really know much about this record, but it's Fucking Jammed out and heavy. Very JETHRO TULL in parts, I cant lie, there are some flutes, but also as mellow Psych as THE DOORS sometimes. This makes for some really good dope smoking music. All the tracks here are good, maybe they could have trimmed that drum solo a little bit in "Dreams of a Drummer", but otherwise this is a strong and mature effort by such an unknown band. This is their only album, which is surprising considering the music here. Of course I have to say that this cover is totally fucking amazing and it's the reason I checked out this album in the first place. What an obvious but incredible idea. Let's hope somewhere that there are some lost recordings that these guys can churn out. Great shit!

ZIOR - EVERY INCH A MAN 1972 (UK)

Here's a little heavy rock for you guys, this is a great band. This record is pretty heavy and just kind of grungy and sleazy. This vocals are bikerish and rough at times, sort of like STEPPINWOLF and the music is heavy blues with a Sabbathy touch. Interestingly enough they used the same artist on their first album that SABBATH did. A great cover I might add. Also sharing SABBATH's flirtation with black magic and evil, they were said to put on quite a live show at the time. This is their second album and never officially released. Its amazing when gems like this just get sweep under the rug. There's a lot of shit going on on this album, so repeat listens are a must. I included the first album here too, it's a little more jam/hippie rock type stuff, but still there are some very heavy moments and a lot of great songs.

PRIVATE SCHOOL - LOST IN ACTION 1979 (CAN)

Great single here from these Canadian punks. The first track "Money , Guns and Power" is a total classic and the rest of this single is killer too. Apparently they opened for THE POLICE (who I hate with a passion)at some point, I guess that didn't help much because you don't see anyone sporting PRIVATE SCHOOL shirts do ya? I cant say I know anything else about them really, but this single rips that's for sure. Give it a good listen.

GOODNIGHT WHATEVER YOU ARE: HALLOWEEN EDITION VOLUME ONE

Alright here's a compilation I originally made for my close friend Stoney tombs aka Noel, a huge classic monster fan and one of the few people I actually know that likes this shit as much as I do. You might have seen some of his comments urging me to post these. Anyway I made this CD for him and over the last few years we have both become increasingly more obsessed with this type of music. I would say I went most of my life without realizing how much great Monster music existed. I dug John Zacherle and Bobby "Boris" Pickett and some other stuff, but had no idea how many one off singles, sound effect records and no name artists there were, amazing really, this is a truly unsung form of music, that's been relegated to cassette budget bins and dusty record boxes at flea markets and is only considered relevant around Halloween. BULLSHIT! This is some really great music, its unusual and very creative at times. I got a comp that Buffalo Bop Records put out about four years ago and that started to clue me in. So I'm returning the favor, here's the first in a 6 volume (so far) series of compilations. There tons of classic stuff on here and lots of obscure stuff too. If you can find a better 6 volume Halloween comp, send it my way pronto! I'll have them all up by the end of the month. Hope you enjoy it.

AL ZANINO - THE VAMPIRE SPEAKS/IN THE VAMPIRE'S LAIR 1957

Cool little record here, I got this from Scar Stuff I think, but I'm not sure at this point. Great stuff here, basically this is a spoken word record with some sound effects. Al Zanino lays down his best Bela Lugosi impersonation, some of this could pass as outtakes from some old Ed Wood script. The first track has a great part with Igor, for Christs sake Drac, give him some blood already, ha ha. Al also runs down all the familiar elements of the vampire mythos, just in case you forgot about those damn mirrors. The second track is maybe a little pointless, but no less entertaining. "When you go to bed tonight don't forget to dream about me.....Count Dracula! That says it all really.

DAVID MCCALLUM - READS H.P.LOVECRAFTS: THE RATS IN THE WALLS

I had a little extra time today so I thought I would throw out another little horror related ditty. If you are a fan of the TV show N.C.I.S. you will really get a kick out of hearing David McCullam read this H.P. Lovecraft classic. I've got a couple more Lovecraft audio books I might put up if people are interested. I'm sure just about anyone with half a brain will enjoy this. So give it a listen.

RUTH ROBERTS, GENE PILLER & BILL KATZ - HALLOWEEN SONGS THAT TICKLE YOUR FUNNY BONE

Totally awesome Halloween record here, up there with the Kay Lande and Wade Denning album I posted awhile back and like that album, this one makes full use of public domain type tunes, with altered Halloween lyrics. This makes for a catchy little bit of fun, my favorite being "I been working on my costume", sung to the tune of, you guessed it "I been working on the railrod". Very memorable and drenched in that classic Fall Festival feeling. I wish there were more albums out there like this, I mean I love sound effects records, but I like songs a lot more. A great one for sure, check it out!

LULLABY - MY MASTER LUCIFER 1993 (BRA)

Here's some great Brazilian madness for you. I rarely step out of the eighties when it comes to metal, its not that I wont listen to newer stuff (I spent the last 2 weeks burning out the new IMMORTAL), It just seems like the metal records that really move me are from that time period, same with punk. Partly I think its due to the energy and innocence of the music. After Death metal came along, something seemed to be missing from metal, I think it might have been the word Heavy? Ha ha, anyway here's a good one from the 90's, my good friend and amazing artist Josh McAlear turned me onto this a few months ago, we trade a lot of music and he sprang this little gem on me and I almost shit my brain. Accurately describing this record isn't easy, lead by striking female vocalist Lullaby, it's kind of goth, kind of death, kind of black, kind of doom and kind of just weird as hell and that doesn't even begin give you an good idea how strange this is. This chicks vocals are just completely crazy and absolutely awesome, totally not for everyone though. I could see plenty of people not digging this at all, but I fucking love it. Reminds me of THORRS HAMMER or a darker, more death BETHLEHEM. Unbelievably different and darkly satanic, oh yeah and a lot of fun. Also check out this chicks really weird videos on YouTube, bonkers stuff!
