Well if your not already a huge Doro fan like I am, Warlock is the right place to start. I have been a fan since around 1988 or so, when I picked my first piece of Warlock wax 1987's "Triumph and Agony". Doro's voice is fucking amazing and she is easily the best looking metal vocalist of all time. My teen crush for her still runs deep, so Doro if your out there, I'm waiting for the call! The version of "Burning the Witches" on this demo is much more alive and energetic than the album version and is a must hear for Doro fans. LE GRIFFE - FAST BIKES EP 1983 (UK)

Great little record here for classic metal fans, tons of great melodies, good solos, classic NWOBHM vocals and songs about motorcycles. I found this one a little addictive, I listen to it over and over in my mp3 player, "Fast Bikes" especially is so good! Formed in 80 they only put out three releases and this is the first. Love the basic fucking cover and this one really sounds good also.

MICHEAL PERILSTEIN - HOLLYWOOD CHAINSAW HOOKERS OST 1988

Here's a pretty funny soundtrack to a movie I totally loved when I was a young teenager, you just cant beat Linnea Quigley's "Dance of the Virgin Chainsaw", Totally unreal! I have faith that most you out there have already seen it. I rented this at my local mom and pop somewhere in the late 80's I think and was floored by how utterly retarded it was and how much I loved it. TIGER B. SMITH - TIGER ROCK 1972 (GER)

Fantastic piece of unique music. At first I didn't know what to expect from this, considering the cover. Glam maybe? But not really, at least not in the usual way. This is a heavy little album and pretty original, its hard to compare it to anything, maybe some earlier Grand Funk stuff played by someone slightly more caveman than Mark Farner, but this is rougher and a lot more raw and much weirder. There are a few long jam out parts that might discourage some, but over all the energy is pretty high. I have read some rather angry reviews of this record, mostly by indie rock nerd types, but as a total Neanderthal I thought this was a killer album all around. They have a second album but I don't have it for some reason, I'll have to search it out at some point. Check this one out!

MUTILATOR - IMMORTAL FORCE 1987 (BRA)

Here's some totally crazy Brazilian thrash for you, I know some of you will really enjoy this one, Josh I'm looking at you (if you don't already have it and you probably do). Fucking great stuff here, right on the edge of falling apart but totally on fire and action packed death/thrash. This is their first full length and my personal favorite, they also have some cool demos and a split album, so if you like this check those out also. This singer was asked to be Sepultura at some point, but turned it down and I think that's some pretty awesome shit! Am I crazy or is "Memorial Stone Without Name" like the best song title you've heard this year so far or what? For all true thrashers and cult metal fanatics!

OZ - FIRE IN THE BRAIN 1983 (FIN)

Fucking insane piece of metal wax here, I just scored a copy of this on vinyl a few days ago at the worst record store in town, I'm not even sure why I went in. But there it was, a prefect copy of this killer record. The guy behind the counter said "Some old biker dude sold these", I thought to myself maybe this record was sent here by the future me, then I snapped back to reality and forked over 6 bucks for this masterpiece. The first person to ever mention these guys to me was Mike Rutherford I think, but I didn't hear them until quite a while later when I stayed with my friend Mark in Seattle, he played me their tracks on the Scandinavian Metal Attack compilation album, along with Bathory and a few other bands, I liked OZ the best. If you haven't heard this and you dig classic metal with an Occult edge, get this now you will not be disappointed. Every song here is good and damn catchy. This is their second album, but most of their albums are good with only a couple of exceptions.

TUFF DARTS! 1978 (US)

Great classic punk album here from 1978. I don't know how I missed this record when I was younger and really into this style of punk, its on fucking SIRE for fucks sake. I feel like I have seen it and passed on it during one of my "I'm only buying metal" phases, ha ha. They even played all the classic New york clubs with a lot of other uber famous bands. Anyway this is a really great album, not perfect but certainly a lost gem. Most of these songs are good here, some better than others. The best tracks would have to be "Rats", "She's Dead" and "(Your Love is like) Nuclear Waste", but the majority of the rest are well above average too, this is their only real album from the time period, though they did make a reunion album in 2007, but I haven't heard it. Anybody? Check it out.

VAULT - HELL OF A BLOCK 1983 (HOL)

WOW! I have been playing the shit out of this one, truly fucking amazing. Tons of punk energy with NWOBHM type riffs. At times this reminds of the Misfits, I know that's crazy but something about the delivery and melodies really makes me think of them or something else Danzig might do. A better description would be Deep Purple and the Misfits had a Hyperactive NWOBHM baby. However, this is really not a punk record, although it does come close at times. This is totally metal! Both of these songs are very catchy, very upbeat and they both get relentlessly stuck in my head. This is their first single, they also manato make ged a full album in 83 called "No more Escape" and a couple of great demos, all worth checking out. Great shit!.

MONSTER CHRISTMAS MASH 1974

Well unfortunately it is Christmas time again and even though despise Christmas and all that comes with it, I have to post this forgotten little gem, I cant believe I had two albums to post for Christmas. Not the best monster record out there but its got to be the best monster Christmas album. You may have heard the title track from this on one of my "Goodnight Whatever You Are!"comps, if so you know what your in for, if not please go get that first. Filled with tons of cool and weird monster themed Christmas tunes, that will either make your day or make you want to shoot yourself shortly after hearing it, personally I dig it, but probably for all the wrong reasons. Here's a true oddity hailing from fucking Arizona of all places! I got this from the awesome Cosmic Hearse blog a while back and just had to repost it. This record is totally bizarre, some of it reminds me of Jethro Tull and some of it reminds me of Zebra with a pinch of Pagan Altar, either way I've never heard another band quite like these guys. Oh man do I love these two fucking albums, when I first got into them I would have sworn they were the best thrash metal band in the world. I still totally play the shit out of both of these. Very killer thrash metal with a rock 'n' roll attitude. Great guitar and perfect tortured vocals. I think these dudes primarily played hardcore shows for some reason, but this is pure thrash metal. I like the later stuff also but nothing touches Power and Pain.

EROTIKILL - VIRGIN SPEED 1990 (US)

Though this steps outside of my distinct boundaries of not listening to metal from the 90's, again not that there aren't good bands, but 90's metal for the most part leaves a lot to be desired for me. However I really enjoyed this album, its was certainly out of date by 1990 when it came out. This is sort of thrash metal, sort of speed metal, sort of all over the place, but good. This cover is beyond cheesy to an almost generic level and jeez that name is terrible for sure. Still for some reason I put this on and I really dug it. Their only other appearance was on the Mosh on Fire: Banned In L.A. comp from PMRC Records in 1992.

Killer fucking record from 71, very rocking and pretty heavy in some places for Florida band. This is another group I featured on one the Atomic Bombs Away comps I put up. Totally awesome rock and totally obscure! This whole thing has an MC5 meets Grand Funk vibe to me, I'm not even sure why I'm saying that exactly. Anyway this is a fantastic album and I have played the shit out of it lately. Its kind of laid back in a weird way, still energetic and exciting, but not taxing in the least. These guys were said to also have quite a theatrical live show, well worth your time and effort. Get it!

DEVIL CHILDE - DEVIL CHILDE 1984 (US)

Formed in New York way back in 83, this albums only real claim to fame is that it features two members that would go onto be in a ton of great bands, this one included. Of course I am talking about Joe Hasselvander (Pentagram, Deathrow, Phantom Lord, Raven) and Jack Starr (Virgin Steele, Burning Starr, Thrasher, Phantom Lord). Though this isn't as good as some of those bands, its still a great piece of wax that should delight most of you jaded metal heads. I really enjoyed it and I loved the fucking vocals! I totally dig this cover two, its way cheesy in all the right ways. Here's a great quote from the back of the album that might tell you what to expect.

NME - UNHOLY DEATH 1986 (US)

Total Blazing evil metal here, very Venom-esqe to say the least. I fucking love this record. When I first got this I assumed it was going to be a crossover album due to the name and logo, but this is pure early black metal. These guys have a demo before this that is also worth checking out as well. An interesting little factoid here about these guys guitar player Kurt, In April 1986, Kurt was accused of killing his adoptive mother with a hatchet and scissors while on drugs. He claimed that he thought he was a robot. He wanted to open up his mother to see if she was a robot also. He was charged with second-degree murder. On March 9th, 2005 original founding member Kurt A. Struebing was killed when he was crossing a bridge in Seattle, Washington. His car and about 3 other cars were stopped at a barricade on a swing bridge which was open letting boat traffic go through the Duwamish Waterway. Witnesses report that his car suddenly pulled out of line, bursted through the stopped traffic and ran through the barricade falling 60 feet to his death. They are not sure if he was under the influence or suicidal. This recording is pretty raw and certainly not for everyone, but if you dig Venom, Atomkraft, Bathory or Warfare this will make you very happy, so get it!

OMEGA - THE PROPHET 1985 (UK)

Here's one that's a bit different, I think. Originally called Apocalypse, these lads changed their name to Omega in 1983. They appeared on the Ebony records compilation "Metal Warriors" with the track "Blood Sacrifice". Somewhere around 1985 they released this moody little piece of wax. This one doesn't really fit the NWOBHM mold for me really, though it's not that far off the mark overall I guess. There just something very downer about it. Despite the terrible Beatles cover, I really enjoyed this one and this might sound weird but something about ii reminded me of Amebix at the beginning, I doubt anyone will agree with me, maybe its just the cover.
