DICK JACOBS - THEMES FROM HORROR MOVIES 1959

One of the first Horror albums out there, this put an artistic face on the b- horror craze of the 50's while still playing for the monster kiddies. Many classics are present as interpreted by Dick Jacobs and his orchestra. Great tracks from movies like "Son of Dracula", "This Island Earth" and "The Deadly Mantis". B-movie gold! This was a one of a kind type album in 1959 and remained one of the only albums that contained music from Horror films for some time. Still a classic today, this also features the voice work of the fabulous Bob McFadden of Bob McFadden and DOR fame, another album I keep meaning to post here. Set back and give this one a spin dude!

DEMON PACT - EATIN ALIVE 1981 (UK)

Great fucking single here in the WARFARE and VENOM type vein. Formed in 1979, this is their only single and only real release from the era. They have since gotten back together and release and E.P. This is killer stuff and any self respecting metal fan should give this a listen. The first track "Eatin Alive" is a killer fast pace throw down. I wish more NWOBHM single sounded lie this. Next is another classic slasher called "Raiders".

BADGER - OVER THE WALL SINGLE 1981 (UK)

Great fucking piece of vinyl here by London's BADGER. I read about this one in the NWOBHM encyclopedia years ago. Its really a killer single and if you like this kind of shit,you need this. First track "Over the wall" is a scorcher. Straight forward NWOBHM with rougher vocals. This has more in common with WARFARE than with PRAYING MANTIS, plus a hint of early IRON MAIDEN if that means anything to you, Ha Ha. Next is "Faceless Gang" a mid pace ripper with cool lyrics and a catchy chorus. Then we come to the live track "Runaway", yet another killer track on this awesome single and I bet these dudes had to be great live judging from this cut. It's kind of a blues rocker that actually reminds me of SPIDER or HAMMERHEAD. They have another single from 85 that I'm still looking for, anybody got any clues? Good stuff all around. Get this one you wont be sorry.

PACK - PACK 1978 (GER)

Man I love this fucking album. It's one of my top ten favorite punk records ever and its hard as hell to find info on. There's not a bad track on this monster and their are plenty of garage acts that would give their balls to sound this good. The vocals are probably what I like most here, but the music kicks major ass too. I have heard a ton of bands cover songs from this album and I always wonder how they found it, personally I stumbled across it at Cut Corner In Lexington,Ky almost by accident sometime after it got re-released. Late 90's I guess, maybe? Anyway this one is from 1978. These dudes released the first punk single in Germany and this singer went on to be the head of GEMA , if you know what that is. I would love to know what he thinks about this record now. My fave here is "Looking for danger" hands down It's a flat out classic, but this whole album is killer punk, do not miss out!

CIRITH UNGOL - FROST & FIRE 1980 (US)

Here we have an album that I'm sure at least a few of you have heard and some of you own. I had heard their name long before tracking down this album. Formed in 1972, this is their first full length album. They did have a demo in 79,which I don't have(if anyone does,please let me know). Taking their name from J.R.R. Tolkien like so many back then and now, I don't really know what these dudes were doing from 72 to 79, but this album was worth the wait and it's a damn heavy album for 1980. I have to be honest here and say that at first I didn't really love this record when I finally heard it, I thought it was good but I had read alot of hype about it and Tim Baker's vocals took a little getting used to. After just a few repeat listen's I was hooked though. This has alot in common musically with Judas Priest from the same era and that's what it reminded me of at first. Also there's kinda of a Manilla road/early Manowar vibe here. This is still in the heavy 70's mold, which I love and you should at least take the time to hear it if you call yourself a metal head. The playing here is top notch and the vocals are really awesome after getting used to them and so are the solo's. Lyrical content should be pretty obvious by the song titles. The correct way of pronouncing the name Cirith Ungol is kee'reeth oo'ngol, but the band pronounce it with a soft "c" if you were wondering. Of course I love this fucking cover, who wouldn't and every track here is good here, so get it already.

DELIA DERBYSHIRE - DREAMS 1964 + WHITE NOISE - AN ELECTRIC STORM 1969

First let me say that I doubt any of you know who Delia Derbyshire (1937-2001) is right off the bat, but I bet alot of you have heard her work. She's the genius behind the original DR.WHO theme. She didn't write the track but she remade it and tweaked it into the electro monster that it is. I loved the sound of this theme when I was younger and have gone back to it several times and I always hear something different. Delia composed electronic music and was a master at tape cutting and looping. She worked for the BBC RADIOPHONIC WORKSHOP for years and churned out tons of sounds for their sound library. In 1959 she applied for a position at Decca Records only to be told that the company did not employ women in their recording studios, Their fucking loss dude! Thankfully she didn't give up and found a home at the BBC some years later. This album called DREAMS, really creeped me out the first time I heard it. I was listening to it on headphones and had just smoked a big ass joint. I went from intrigued to frightened in about 2 minutes. The track "Running" has got to be my favorite and sometimes little snippets of it get stuck in my head for days. I also included a link for the album "An Electric Storm" by WHITE NOISE which featured collaborations with Derbyshire and BBC RADIOPHONIC WORKSHOP alumni Brian Hodgson and is now considered an important and influential album in the development of electronic music, many would say it was 20 years ahead of its time. She left the BBC in 1972, She still maneged to contribute to soundtrack here and there, like The Legend of Hell House soundtrack. There is an amazing fucking documentary about the BBC RADIOPHONIC WORKSHOP called "The Alchemists of Sound", look for it if you get a chance. You can watch it on you tube I think, It;s very interesting and informative. I was surprised how many random TV and movie sounds I take for granted and the fact that someone spent there life making this kind of shit is out of this world. This is for the adventurous listener only. This is music, but not the kind your use to. Check it out!

CRACKED ACTOR - NAZI SCHOOL 1981 (US) re-up

This is a killer BLOODSTAINS, KILLED BY DEATH rocker from these Long Island,NY punks. I read about this one first and had to track it down. This walks the fine line of racial humour, much like REAGAN YOUTH did. There are even some seig heils, but don't let that fool, you just like REAGAN YOUTH, there making their point with sarcasm, the song is really about our school system. I think sarcasm is something totally lacking into today's punk rock rule book for sure. Seems like bands today are just scared to death of Nazi subject matter, even when its directed towards our government or police, whatever! Killer military type drums kick off the title track "Nazi school", which just flat out rips, has a great chorus and is damn catchy all the way through. Next we got a punked out cover of "Judy in disguise" which is pretty pointless, but also painless, I even found myself bopping along with it at some point. Get this for the title track and you wont be fucking sorry. (Well in this case you will be sorry,ha ha. THE MANIMALS - BLOOD IS THE HARVEST 1985 (US)

Man here's a great one I had never heard of until a few days ago when my friend Professor Black sent a couple tracks my way. His description was "Heavy metal Misfits" and that's pretty damn accurate. This really does sound like a metal MISFITS, I don't mean like the later DANZIG stuff ,literally it sounds like a metal version of the New Jersey gods. Formed in 1982 in Cleveland ,Ohio(a hot bed of cool unheard bands apparently). The music here is more metal and played about a thousand times better than the MISFITS. I'm not saying I like this better than the MISFITS, which I love, I'm just saying they know how to play their instruments. Don't worry this is not the same ol' 5th generation horror punk bullshit were all good and tired of, this is from 1985 and it kills dude. These guys had to be big on Glenn and his crew, from the cover of the album, to the song titles and music, you can tell they were huge fans. The song 'Blood is the harvest" is the best one here, but give the rest of them a chance to grow on you and it will.

TORTURA - THE SOUNDS OF PAIN AND PLEASURE VOLUMES 1&2 1965

OK I don't know much about these two, but you should certainly give them a listen. This is for the dormant sadist/masochist in all of us. Torture sounds abound, this is like no other record. Here you have two classic recordings focusing on whipping, beating, spanking and other sadistic fetish type behavior. The ooh's and aah's are especially over the top. Its hard to believe these came out in 1965. What the hell was going on in the 60's? This just further proves our society is not getting worse, we were fucked to start with. The title really say's it all. Crank this up loud at 2 am and see if anyone calls the cops...Enjoy the torture!

BLACK DEATH - BLACK DEATH 1984 (US)

Christ what a fucking classic. Formed In 1979 and split after 1984. BLACK DEATH is the SHIT and the best unheard metal band out there. Me and my buddy Stoney have been drooling over this one for sometime. Man What can I say, it just really rips. Damn near a perfect metal record. I first heard of these guys from my friend Mike Rutherfurd years ago. I don't know how he found out about them, but he let me in on them. A mix of classic metal style with punk energy and a killer vocalist. The songs are all solid, well written and well played. The picture on the cover of these guys posing is UN-fucking-believable. I wish there were more all black metal bands like this, sadly there are not. You can find a handful of black punk bands (Bad Brains, Pure hell, Death), but I cant think of any other all black metal band's from this era, if anyone else knows of some, please make me aware. Regardless of all that, if you like metal at all you need this, it is essential listening for sure. My band just covered one of these tracks for a new single, so you know I'm obsessed but trust me here. It kills me that these dudes didn't make it big, I just don't understand it. It all seems so perfect. This is ripe for a re-issue and I have heard that its coming soon, so buy it when it comes out and support this great band who deserve alot more attention. Till then you gotta give this a listen. This has the album plus bonus tracks, so get it now and thank me later dude!

CEREAL MONSTERS AND HALLOWEEN FLEXI DISCS

I'm basking in my inner nerd with this post but, I love these recordings. What got me into this stuff was the Count Chocula, Frankenberry and Boo Berry Flexi discs. I love Scary sound effect and story albums and I had actually heard of these before and wanted them. While looking for them I stumbled across several others. At some point I asked resident monster stuff expert Stoney Tombs about them and he coughed up the amazing Count Morbida Flexi from his own collection, thanks man. All of these are Worth a listen and might jog some childhood memories out there. So get out your bowl of cereal and lets get on with it.


First we got the Count Chocula, Boo Berry and Frankenberry Flexi Featuring three tracks. We start this thing off with "Monsters in outer space", which is nothing less than amazing. Here are some int resting tidbits from this audio revelation. Frankenberry sleeps with a teddy bear, the monster live in "Monster Mansion", they get inside a flying pink marshmallow that takes them to space, on the way to planet "Moxy", where all the teddy bears are born, they battle a evil villain named "IGNOROID" to free the teddy bears. The "IGNOROID" only fears one thing, three weird looking monsters...OK? Of course "The Monsters go Disco" and "Count Chocula goes to Hollywood" are just as crazy. I think Its strange that the Monster are so active, their always going somewhere, anyway I'll let you find out the rest on your own, if you dare.

Next is the KRAFT "A Spooky Halloween Story" Flexi from 1978. This one delivers 100%, With cool effexts at the end, a neat little story for the kiddies and valuable lesson to be learned. I will not spoil the story for you but its a damn cool in a basic kind of way. Kraft should have really made more recordings.

Here we have the infamous "Count Morbida's Chamber of horrors" from Dynamite magazine in 1975, as I said earlier Mr.Stoney Tombs sent me this and has the original, Damn you Stoney! Your always one step ahead. This is a great little Flexi and has higher production values than most of these. If you read Dynamite magazine as a kid, then you will probably remember this character, he always made an appearance around Halloween.

Next up is the "Legend of Sleepy Hollow" Flexi from HONEYCOMB. I love this one. Its a great story and is honestly kind of frighting. they run through the whole story in record time and get all the details into only 3:15, crazy. This is a damn good one and that cover is insane. I just peer into it sometimes wonder how do you make something this cool.. Check it out.

This one was put out by PICKWICK 1978. Another great story Flexi, this one retreads the "Sleepy Hollow" theme and add an original b-side that is really awesome. One of the best and most ominous Flexi tracks out there. This one is creepy as hell and seems very angry. Great stuff here.

Last up is "Haunted House" from ALPHA BITS, Its a great little story flexi with a heavy tone and good sound effects. This one is played pretty straight and is almost scary. I never liked ALPHA BITS though, I don't even remember what they looked like, I remember the box just not the cereal. Very neato here stuff...Enjoy!

STORMQUEEN - COME SILENT THE WORLD SINGLE 1982 + BATTLE OF BRITAIN DEMO 1980 (UK)

More great NWOBHM here for you, This is not that rare anymore, but still a great band is a great band and I don't think these guys have quite reached the saturation point yet. Formed in 79 and split around 84, this Barry, Wales band have been NWOBHM legends for as long as most anyone and I heard and read about this stuff long before I heard it. First is the "Come silent the world" single which is a solid piece of wax. The first track "Come silent the world" is classic and has some whoa whoa singing shit at the beginning that gets painfully stuck in my head sometimes. A great rocker for sure but they still have better material. Next is "Raising the roof" showing off the bands "bar band rocker" potential, this one is alot faster then the a-side and I'm sure it was stellar live. Next is the "Battle of Britain" demo which really smokes, don't get me wrong I like their single alot but this demo is tough to beat. The first is the title track and it slaughters, reminds me of the early HOLOCAUST stuff, but a little more metal, less punk. Next is my favorite, "Captives of the Moon", this just fucking jams. Let it be said I love songs about werewolves and this is one of the best. This song is as heavy as the fucking earth, one of my all time favorite metal jams. The quality is top notch here and these dudes should have went alot farther. But they only put out one single WTF?? Next is "Lady night" yet another solid track that's heavy, catchy and damn well played. Last is a demo version of the rocker "Raising the roof" from the single. This is a great version and kills the single version, its faster and has way more energy. This demo really has that certain feeling you really crave from great NWOBHM material. This delivers ten fold, check it out.

RONNIE JAMES DIO - 1958-1965 THE ROCK 'N' ROLL YEARS

I was making my friend Dean Sacratini this Dio comp and had mentioned some of this material on here before when I posted THE ELVES bootleg.So I thought I would Just post the CD I was making. So here It is, RONNIE JAMES DIO 1958-1965 The Rock 'n' Roll Years. I put together this compilation with all the Dio tracks I had from this era and made a quick cover for it. The image I used Is actually the cover of the "Dio at Domino's" album, which is included in the 32 tracks here. I did not take the time to list ever track here because there just to many,I'm to lazy and for fucks sake theres a goddamn photo. Let me say that this needs to be heard to be believed for sure. Dio and his two bands THE PROPHETS and THE REDCAPS, rip through a slew of classic cover material plus some of their own. I had never even heard of this stuff until I ran across it a year or so ago. Truly amazing. This is before THE ELECTRIC ELVES, But still the classic Dio voice is here and like always Dio knocks it out of the park. This just solidifies his stature as a metal god. MACE - THE EVIL IN GOOD 1987 (US)

Here's a good piece of punk metal. I first heard these dudes on the Metal Massacre V comp and had to track down this album. This lost 80's relic certainly deserves to be heard. Formed in 82 and split after 87. Again you see some big sunglasses in the picture and this time a cool dog even, I think I'm on to something. Hailing from Everett, Washington of all places. Parts of this remind me of BEOWULF, who I posted Earlier and also a dash of D.R.I. and ENGLISH DOGS. This is defiantly in the crossover vein, with some very punk vocals and back ups. They don't have the same tone that alot of crossover bands do though, there are cheesy lyrics about 80's right wing religious types, War, Incest and a cool Horror movie type vibe in some of the tracks. This thrashes pretty fucking hard and would be great after a night of drugs and alcohol. The best tracks here are "Gutripper", "Intent to kill" and "The evil in good". The rest are good just, not as good. Now get in the PIT!

Another KILLED BY DEATH style stomper. These Akron, Ohio monsters are classic punk with tons of bad attitude and misguided anger. I'm sure things were tough in Akron in 78, because a hell of alot of great punk came out of Ohio in the 70's. Real quick I have to mention the mustache and big sunglasses, that almost always guarantees a good piece of vinyl. First up is "Laser boys" a straight forward punk rocker that will please most any K.B.D. fan and the best track here hands down. Then next is "It hurts Janey", which is a little more art rock and at times reminds me of ALICE COOPER. Last is "A New Order" which remind me of IGGY a little and some other more arty new york bands ,But don't let that scare you off this is still a great single. See what you think.

UNITED - DESTROY METAL E.P. 1985 (JPN)

Formed in 1981, this Japanese thrash act is still around today, sadly none of their other records match this one, but their still kicking. This sounds kind of like a more thrash RUNNING WILD mixed with W.A.S.P. on a sped up cassette. Apparently they started as a JUDAS PRIEST cover band, which I don't really see, beside the name. Each track actually has a different sound in a way, they sound like the same band but in different metal styles. The first track "Sniper" has got to be my favorite here. Its the best track on this E.P. and is worth the time to take a listen. The other two tracks are very strong and make this a really great piece of wax. You should totally give it a spin and if your wondering....NO! they don't hate metal. Destroy Metal is the kind of metal that they play. Think Black Metal, Speed Metal, Punk Metal....Destroy Metal!

Here's another terribly obscure single that often gets over looked. Personally I think Its one of the best NW.O.B.H.M. singles out there. Very high quality and Its so hard to believe these guys didn't get any farther than this single. Its just to damn bad. The first track "Prisoner of love" Is pure magic, I love this track and it always goes on my N.W.O.B.H.M. comps. The second track is more of a bluesy rocker, still killer just not as amazing as the b-side. The Dover, Kent based band released the "Prisoner Of love" 7" on DTS Records in 1982 and haven't been heard from since.

CAMILLE SAUVAGE - FANTASMOGORIES (197?)

Man I cant find out shit about this album, I think Camille Sauvage is a pseudonym of Eric Framond, who made library music for the label Editions Montparnasse 2000, who put this out. I don't even know what year this was made, maybe early 70's. I have alot of library albums, but none like this. The sounds on here are horrific, frightening and super cool. Very horror oriented stuff. If you like sound tracks and effects albums this one is a must. All the tracks are good and all are very different from nightmarish to deeply atmospheric. The closest thing I could compare this to would be GOBLIN's Susperia soundtrack. Great shit for the weirdo in all of us. If you have any info on this one, please let me know..Now get it!

BROCAS HELM - DEMO 1983 (US)

I love this demo and I love this band. Formed in 1981, BROCAS HELM is one of those rare bands that just flat out kicked me in the nuts the first time I heard them. Their "Black Death L.P." is one of my all time favorites. So I thought I would throw this little rarity out for you guys to check out. I'm sure more than a few of you have heard these guys or at least heard of them, I know I heard about them years before actually hearing their records. Apparently these dudes had some record label trouble and people didn't have much interest in them at the time, Which blows my mind, but also confirms everything I believe about most labels and music fans, they only like what there told to. Anyway these guys ultimately had to finance a real album by themselves. Thank Satan that they did or I might not be able to hear this awesome music. This demo kicks thing off with classic tracks like "Into Battle", "Here to rock" and the fucking amazing "Beneath the haunted moon". This demo has alot of energy and is a little chaotic at times, not as much as their first album, but still its a little wild. If you dig this , do yourself a favor and get their first L.P. called "Black Death", you will shit your brain! Amazing!

CONFESSOR - FIRST SIN 12 INCH (NZL)

Wow here's some great metal from Auckland,New Zealand, not to be confused with the U.S. band. Cant say I know to much about these dudes but I do like this record. I had heard this one once before I really picked up on it. I think it was the track "Satin sheet action" that finally won me over. Formed in 1985 and split after 1987. These guys only made this one piece of vinyl, they did however make a demo after this, which I don't have, so if anyone does, let me know. The playing here is average, but the songs are memorable, the vocals are good and check out the photo of these dudes, pretty funny, but don't let that fool you this is straight classic metal, not glam. Get your bangin' boots on...Enjoy!

I had been neglecting the soundtrack side of things here, so I thought I would put up few great soundtracks to two great movies and one that was shitty. I really like the first two POLTERGEIST flicks but the third one...Well no one really remembers it anyway. Here have All three soundtracks. The first two are by soundtrack master Jerry Goldsmith and the last one is by Joe Renzetti. Jerry Goldsmith(1929-2004) has of course cranked out quite a few soundtracks in his time including Twilightzone, Planet of the apes, Alien, Legend and The Omen 1, 2 &3. So needless to say this dude is a pro and delivers two very atmospheric scores, I love them both. Next is Joe Renzetti's Score for the third and worst POLTERGEIST film, part 3. If you haven't seen this one , don't bother. its just a rehash and lacks everything that made the first one so special. Joe Renzetti was also very experienced at the music came and had been Cameo Records house guitarist, he played on the hits "Let's Twist Again", " Dee Dee Sharp's "Mashed Potato Time"", "South Street", The "Limbo Rock", "Palisades Park, and "Tallahassee Lassie". Thats some killer stuff for sure,but he also arranged Barry Manilow's "Mandy",not so killer. One last cool fact about Joe renzetti is that he taught the actors in "The Buddy Holly Story" how to play their instruments and perform the songs in the movie, this was a real first and I cant think of another movie off the top of my head that has done this. Anyway his soundtrack here is awesome and worth your time for a listen.

RANDY-SHADOWS ARE FALLING 1985 (DEN)

Fucking Christ this is a good one. My friend Professor Black turned me on to this one earlier this year and not a week has gone by that I didn't give it a spin, damn fucking good. This is very melodic NWOBHM style stuff, while these dudes aren't English, they would have fit the scene perfectly and if you like that kind of metal this is right up your alley. Very catchy songs that all well written and have some serious hooks. This is far above your average metal record and you don't find that very often and this cover, I mean wow WTF? I couldn't believe it the first time I seen it and the only thing better is the photo of them, was it a band decision to have matching mustache's? Anyway I couldn't really find out shit about these guys, they have demo after this single ,so if anyone has that, please let me know. Good luck actually purchasing this one, please someone re-issue something by this band, until then enjoy!

PENETRATORS-BASEMENT ANTHOLOGY

This is a kick ass record and one of the most consistent bands I have ever heard like this. This smokes the majority of garage punk bands from the era. These dude should have been huge, but we all know real rock 'n' roll never wins. Great catchy songs and ton of attitude, this is up there with the first DAMNED album or SKREWDRIVER's "All skrewed up", I mean fucking classic. If you like rock 'n' roll or punk this is a must have. This rips straight out of the gate with "Teenage lifestyle" and it never lets up. These dudes could almost be on the classic BACK FROM THE GRAVE comps, this shit sounds so good. "Baby dontcha tell me" is my favorite here, but there really isn't a bad track. Get this now if you haven't heard it, this is some good stuff.

BLACK TASK-BLACK TASK E.P. 1985 + SPIKES TO THE WALL DEMO 1984 + INCRIMINATED SPLIT SINGLE

Let the punk metal nightmare begin, here's a raw and unrelenting band that's still pretty obscure. Formed in 1983 and split after 1986, these dudes left behind some very aggressive shit. First up is the BLACK TASK E.P, A fine piece of crossover type thrash, very punk but yet very metal also. The songs are all fast and are somewhat primitive at times. The vocals here are definitely punk and the drumming also. The guitars are completely blown out and destroyed, sometime it almost sounds like a small explosion. The overall sound here is terriable, but still I like it. My favorites are "Sex and destruction","Firestorm" and "Smash your face", which is the best track here and a damn angry little ditty. All the tracks are memorable though. Then we get to the SPIKES TO THE WALL demo, another piece of angry crossover with terriable sound. This one is a little more metal. The solos are good and the whole vibe is way more in the heavy metal/thrash direction. The first track "Satan's mother" is awesome and these all follow the same path as the E.P. You got to hear the cowbell on "Spikes to the wall", classic. Next is the split with INCRIMINATED, I'm not sure how this came about because it was released in 2006 I think, considering thats over 20 years after the original recording. Anyway this has an extra track from the 84 demo called "Warriors of hell" and a good one at that. Though I didn't list them below the INCRIMINATED tracks are included...Enjoy!

SATAN'S HOST-METAL FROM HELL 1986 (US)

Goddamn what a fucking record! Formed in 1977 and active again (in a much shittier form). This satanic power/speed metal master piece is really just a side project vocalist Harry"The Tyrant" Conklin(1977-1987) from JAG PANZER, here he uses the name Leviathan Thisiren for some reason. Anyway this rips big time, the vocals kill and the music is pure metal madness, the atmosphere here is perfect. They rage threw 8 classics, but my favorites are "Black Steele", "Standing at Death's door" and the brutal "King of Terror", the vocals and lyrics on this one are some of the best I have heard, the background vocals add so much. The Guitars sound pretty ruff, but the solo;s are pretty good and I love the wacko chaotic drumming. This is their only real album, but they recorded for a second, which you can find a bootleg of. You cant miss with this one.
